Allxs launches e-commerce progressive web app solution for schools

Allxs is proud to announce the launch of our e-commerce progressive web app solution for schools.

Each school will have access to its own multi-tenant online mall where all outlets can be listed. Schools will also have the option of offering their community a presence in their online store. Allxs will make available some key rewards partners in the e-commerce environment that all schools can access as part of their online commerce platform. Schools can add their admin store, uniform shop, tuck-shop and any other online store they wish to make available to their parents and community. It is also a great channel to help with fundraising while removing cash from campus.

The Allxs e-commerce solution enables the client to launch an online and a mobile store directly integrated into their cashless point of sale and inventory system. The e-commerce system is capable of a single shopping experience across multiple vendors by adding products from a range of suppliers into a single basket. The e-commerce application is delivered as a progressive web app which, when launched from the user’s home screen, loads instantly, regardless of the state of the network ensuring an instant, reliable experience for the users. Progressive web apps are installable and live on the user’s home screen with no app store. They offer an immersive full screen experience and can even reengage users with push notification.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Who is the Allxs cashless payments and event management system built for?

The system was developed for schools, events, clubs and hospitality. Allxs is an integrated payment platform which consist of a point of sale with closed loop payments, credit card payments, member account management, inventory control, remote printing, vouchers, discounts and a digital rewards currency.

What is the difference between the Allxs point of sale and a regular point of sale.

The Allxs point of sale tracks itemised sales for every order with an integrated credit card facility. This means that the order is processed on the point of sale by selecting the correct products and when credit card is selected as the payment method, the transaction is automatically referred to the pin pad with no room for error as the amount does not need to be entered manually.

How is the Allxs credit card processing system different to any other credit card terminal.

Credit card terminals only record amounts that are processed and do not provide any detailed sales data. Mobile credit card terminals are not integrated into any cash register system and are not capable of automatically reconciling the sales.

Do my customers have to load their money onto a separate card to make my event cashless.

No, your customers can use their own NFC enabled bank cards or load an events card to use at your event.

What is NFC?

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a technology that allows the exchange of communication between 2 devices by placing them next to each other. All new bank cards are NFC enabled to allow for faster payments during the check out process.

We are very excited about our roadmap for the year ahead and the new services that we will be rolling out. 2018 was a fantastic year with many new features added to the Allxs Smart School ID Cashless Payments Platform. These included recipe level inventory management, digital warehouse management, host to host banking integrations, web based print management, self-service kiosk and a mobile, table service solution. The Allxs Cashless Payments system not only makes your campus cashless everyday but will also cater to all your event requirements improving speed, safety and convenience.

Here are some of the new features that you can look forward to in 2019.

WhatsApp support has been implemented to help parents and clients with a faster and more convenient support channel. Please add 066 472 8657 to your contacts as Allxs Support. Please note that this is a message only support channel and will not receive any voice calls. We are confident it will speed up and improve your support experience.

This feature prevents credit card errors and helps to reconcile exactly which transactions were paid by credit card, automating your reconciliation process.

AXS Coin Rewards will be rolled out during the course of the first term. This digital rewards currency aims to help drive positive behavior across all the spectrum of school life. This includes rewarding healthy food choices at the tuck shop, achievements in academics, sports and culture as well as any other behaviours the community would like to reward. AXS Coins can be purchased by parents, schools and any other members of the community and can be used to reward anyone within the school community. This digital currency will be redeemable at the tuck shop for treats as well as value added services such as airtime and data right from the Allxs point of sale. Schools have the option to add their own rewards partners inside their own community as well as benefit from our growing list of partners. Movies, events and a few more surprises will be added throughout the year. In addition to driving positive behavior at schools, parents can use the system to drive positive behavior at home and reward their kids in a safe and meaningful way with a controlled set of redemption partners. Schools can also use the system to reward those parents who tirelessly support the school with their precious time.

REWARD YOUR STUDENTS WITH AXS COIN REWARDS PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS
REWARD YOUR STUDENTS WITH AXS COIN REWARDS PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS

A rewards program with a difference. AXS Coin rewards for schools are fully integrated into the smart school ID and all of its features and controls. Motivate education through rewards. AXS Coins can be used at the school or with our partners. Use AXS Coins to purchase treats at the tuck shop, air time, movie and concert tickets, books and data. With a well-designed loyalty and reward program, academic performance & attendance are improved, extra-curricular activities are encouraged, student/teacher relations are improved, financial literacy is enhanced & community cohesion is revitalized.

Students Can Be Rewarded with AXS Coins for Good Practice, Grades and Attendance.

One of the most important aspects of teaching is motivation. It is also one of the most difficult. Giving students a sense of ownership allows them to feel accomplished and encourages active participation in class and their school.  Reward children for being involved in athletics and extramural activities. Encourage your students to start clubs and choose healthier options at the tuck shop. Rewards give students a sense of accomplishment and encourage them to work with a goal in mind.

Motivate students to learn under a rewards-based system. Students tend to show higher interest and increased participation in everyday classroom duties and responsibilities with tangible rewards and reinforcement at frequent intervals. Rewards programs can also be used to encourage long-term effort and accountability.

Teachers Are Special, And They Deserve Special Attention.

Reward teachers and parents with AXS COINS in order to bring the village together and build a stronger educational ecosystem. Entice participation by rewarding parents for actively participating in their child’s school life. Teachers can be rewarded for participating in extra training and class performance.

Get Parents More Involved

Parents and students can pool their rewards together and send teachers on a holiday or day at a spa to thank them for their hard work. Parents can help with school trips, drama productions or with one-off events at the school.

Parents can earn AXS Coins for volunteering their services at the school.  Classroom helpers volunteer to assist teachers on a regular basis. They help with tasks like listening to pupils read. Reading practice is very labor-intensive, and helpers can make a big difference to teachers and children. Parents can help teachers prepare for the day as well as hand out worksheets, freeing up the teacher’s valuable time.

Classroom helpers make a big difference. Research shows that having a parent who volunteers improves a child’s experience of school. And the parent gets to experience behind the scenes at school.

Allxs Media chosen for the fourth Grindstone Accelerator cohort of top scale-up ventures
Allxs Media chosen for the fourth Grindstone Accelerator cohort of top scale-up ventures

South African venture capital firm Knife Capital announced the top twelve companies participating in its fourth Grindstone Accelerator programme. Grindstone engineers growth for South African innovation-driven entrepreneurs by shaping their companies to become more investable, sustainable and exit-ready.

Some of South Africa’s best scale-up companies have been through Grindstone with measurable results. These include ticketing solutions provider Quicket, financial inclusion business Picsa; augmented reality animation & gaming company SeaMonster; payments software provider Electrum, transport data company WhereIsMyTransport,  Bitcoin blockchain anti-piracy solution Custos and radar startup iKubu (acquired by Garmin).

Over the last three intakes, the interventions of the year-long program resulted in the participating companies experiencing an average of 56% year-on-year increase in revenue while mastering business fundamentals. Andrea Bohmert, Knife Capital Investment Partner explains: “Grindstone is about measurable growth, about building a foundation that can handle both challenges and opportunities. It is about being prepared, as interesting things happen to companies that are ready and able to act on short notice.”

In this cohort, Knife Capital is taking twelve businesses through an intensive review of their strategies to provide them with the insights and tools to build a foundation for growth. “We initially set out to find ten SMEs to partner with, but the exciting and diverse range of the opportunities presented, combined with corporate partnerships reached, enabled us to open the program up a bit wider,” says Bӧhmert. “Each one of these companies is at a tipping point, with many strategic options to pursue. During Grindstone the entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to validate their growth assumptions and check these against the company’s ability to execute.”

Grindstone collaborates with other top incubation and acceleration programmes in the market to augment the learning experience and continue the growth journey. The programme draws on various speakers, mentors and corporates as value-adding partners to assist in supporting these high-growth SMEs. “We were overwhelmed by the interest and deep interventions from leading South African corporates,” says Bohmert. This year Grindstone is partnering with  entrepreneurial-minded organisations that include: FNB, Webber Wentzel, Creative CFO, Thinkroom Consulting, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft 4Afrika, M&C Saatchi Connect, GMG Technology, Matchboxology and Billybo Group to link into and bolster market access opportunities.

Knife Capital is also currently in partnership discussions to launch a Johannesburg-based Grindstone Programme in 2019.

The TOPS at SPAR Wine Show Goes Digital
The TOPS at SPAR Wine Show Goes Digital

The TOPS at SPAR Wine Show will lead the way into the future by introducing technology to help manage wine inventory across the event. Allxs Media will deliver the solution that will manage the stock flow of more than 70 exhibitors from a centralised wine vault in real time. The inventory management system has been specifically designed to manage stock at events based on real time sales data, sampling data and pre-set minimum stock levels. The new platform will be rolled out in phases across the country starting at the Johannesburg event running from the 7th to 9th of June at Montecasino. The implementation of this system promises to streamline operations and deliver a superior customer experience with valuable data for all.

“We are thrilled to have an opportunity to apply the Allxs system to such a prestigious event. We are excited to be a part of guiding the wine exhibition industry towards a connected future.” – Raphael Domalik, CEO Allxs Media.

So how does the system work?

The stock is managed by a central warehouse representing the wine vault and a network of virtual warehouses that represent the individual exhibitors. Each exhibitor’s virtual warehouse is connected to a custom point of sale linked to the available inventory. The inventory is automatically populated in the Point of Sales as per a pre-defined unit of measure module. This enables an exact definition of how many millilitres constitute a tasting and how many millilitres constitute a glass or bottle sold. The automated requisition system can then be used to restock the individual exhibitor’s stock on hand from the central wine vault based on pre-set desired stock levels. As soon as stock on hand levels drop below the minimum stock level set, the system automatically triggers the requisition which is delivered to the stock controller for approval. This process can also be managed by the stock controller and adjusted manually before the requisition is authorised. Requisitions can be initiated from the Point of Sale by the wine operator, should there be a need for a unique requirement in addition to the automated pre-sets.

In the next phase, visitors will be issued with a NFC tag that can be used to track their tastings as well as their purchases without having to carry anything during the event, with the option of collecting their purchases on their way out or have it shipped to directly to their home using the complimentary Sip n Ship option. With this new service, all tasting data will be available to visitors on their personal dashboard along with purchase history and the ability to order additional stock online.

“We’re excited to be taking The Wine Show to the next level using Allxs’s platform. Not only will the system streamline operations and provide valuable sales and tasting data for our exhibitors, but it will also improve our visitors experience by enabling them to enjoy the event without the worry of carrying their purchases around with them. It will also log their favourite brands, varietals and a wealth of other information”- Chris Jackson, COO The Wine Show.

How A Cashless Bus Solution Can Help Public Transport
How A Cashless Bus Solution Can Help Public Transport

From schools to national transport systems, a cashless bus solution improves efficiency, promotes road safety and increases operator revenues. It reduces the inconvenience of carrying change and keeps buses clean by eliminating paper tickets. Going cashless allows for less wait time by passengers and ensures more vehicles are available more frequently on bus routes.

Cashless cards can be personalized with passenger details and an ID photo and registered online where passengers are able to view their trips, deposit funds for the month’s bus rides and pre-order trips. This improves the passenger’s overall experience.

One of the biggest issues bus operators face is the loss of revenue as money passes from the passenger to the conductor and then to the bus driver and collector. Up to 25 percent of the revenue can be lost. With a cashless solution, this revenue can be recovered.

As with all new technology cashless solutions on bus routes has affected jobs as conductors are no longer needed. However, in Luanda, where the system has been adopted with enthusiasm, over 170 jobs have been created because of the new technology. Many conductors have been retrained as “ground technicians,” working in a variety of positions by leveraging their knowledge of the transport sector. In Kenya where vehicle owners lose up to 30 percent of their day’s earnings, the new cashless bus solutions have eliminated corruption.

A cashless solution is quick, convenient, safe and improves reporting and the management of revenue. If you are interested in a cashless solution for your transport company contact us for a demonstration and we’ll get you up and going in no time.
