St John’s College collaborates with Allxs for the implementation of a new cashless school card ID to streamline campus transactions and control structures. The cashless school card ID will roll out in January 2017.
A single Smart School ID is a cashless school card that can open doors, pay for meals, manage bus rides and monitor attendance. Utilising the loyalty and reward management module students will be rewarded with points and vouchers for healthy eating habits through the seamlessly integrated loyalty engine in the cashless point of sale. The cashless school card gives parents the control to manage spending and dietary requirements and provides access to detailed reporting and communication. The merchant is provided with a fully functional cashless point of sale system with stock management, reporting and an advanced pre-order system which improve efficiencies and controls. Cashless payment systems are becoming an area of focus for many schools. Not only for safety reasons but also speed and convenience. New technologies such as NFC (Near Field Communication) take security, control, and convenience to new heights. NFC cards are the new standard in transactions and transport management. NFC cards with cloud based data systems can be used to combine a series of functions streamlining campus transactions and control structures. This was the driving force behind the decision to collaborate with Allxs and the implementation of the smart school ID system at St John’s College.
Peter Henning, IT manager for the St John’s campus, has been at the forefront of implementing new technologies and streamlining systems for quite some time. With the recent implementation of NFC door locks for the dormitories, the possibility of using NFC cards that could open doors, pay for meals, and manage bus rides was just what they were looking for. St John’s College has been operating a cashless tuckshop for many years so migrating to a new system had to offer more value than a different way to do the same thing. Dave Vermeulen, head of finance, also expressed that there was a great need for a system capable of easily integrating into existing systems that could help minimise the amount of independent data sources that needed to be independently collated.
The Allxs platform combines the foundation to deliver this in several ways. The ever-changing landscape requires a system that can deliver an integrated platform that can be shared by several parties with their own security and privacy intact. St John’s College is the perfect example of a complex ecosystem of suppliers, parents, faculty, and students. This requires a system that allows each party to manage their businesses independently, but streamlined, ensuring a superior end-user experience.
As with many schools, their tuck shop is outsourced to a catering company which in this instance is Chartwells. The campus also hosts an onsite restaurant and coffee shop. The Allxs cashless school card ID gives parents the control to manage spending and dietary requirements and provides access to detailed reporting and communication. Chartwells is provided with a fully functional cashless point of sale system with stock management, reporting and an advanced pre-order system which improve efficiencies and controls waste. Mr. Michael Darck, the Regional Manager for Chartwells, shared his directive to encourage healthier eating habits on campus whilst creating excitement and motivation. The Allxs cashless school card is up to the challenge, utilising the loyalty and reward management module to help achieve this goal. Students will be rewarded with points and vouchers for healthy eating habits through the seamlessly integrated loyalty engine in the cashless point of sale.
The same cashless school card that operates the cashless point of sale system provides access to their dorms, manages the photocopy machine and controls the stationary purchases for the staff. Further applications such as managing bus tickets, attendance tracking and access control are just a decision away. The system provides a dedicated dashboard for parents, vendors, and students, and is accompanied by a mobile application which is capable of account management, voucher and coupon management, beacon enabled communication and a range of other features. As schools implement their own mobile applications with various functionalities, Allxs is committed to help and streamline some of these processes with the ability to integrate into some of the more complex features such location, identity, and time-of-day driven communication, in-app purchases, ticketing, pre-orders and attendance.
“We are very excited to work with a leader like St John’s College and look forward to delivering industry leading innovation for campus life in 2017 while creating increased convenience and security,” said Raphael Domalik, director of Allxs.
